067 – One door closes and another opens...
This weekend saw the launch of Airside Play – our new online shop and social space. We celebrated by having a pop-up shop and party for which these delicious cupcakes were made. As Play incorporates all our various ‘voices’ – Twitter, Flickr, Tumblr etc, you will now be able to find everything in one place so bookmark it! To that end, we bid you farewell here, and look forward to...

Hmmm, there are many empty desks at Airside today. Makes one feel like one might have forgotten that it’s a bank holiday or an important meeting or some such like.

Here’s the explanation for all those strange objects coming through the studio (see elk head and horn photos) – this is a still from a TV commercial released last week, by Airside, for Gumtree. We worked with the lovely Richard Hogg on this one.

038 – Peek-a-boo
Henki won’t be playing peek-a-boo soon as he’s off to Japan in September. He’s going to work remotely and be the first official member of Airside Nippon (note that this site is not yet up and running). Or Director of Far East Operations as we like to call him.

037 – Beatles
Found this painting in a dusty corner of the studio. It’s a watercolour done by Richard Hogg when we were working on a music promo for the Beatles, when the remixed Love album came out a few years ago. The original track we were given was Strawberry Fields Forever and we were going down this lovely watercolour hand-made route. Then at the last minute the track changed and we had to do a...

033 – A flyer for non flying
Here’s a flyer we designed for Greenpeace, for an exhibition as part of their Airplot campaign (no third runway at Heathrow). They’re holding an exhibition of winning architectural designs for a structure to defeat the proposed runway expansion, and you can see the designs at the Bargehouse, Oxo Tower Wharf on London’s Southbank. The exhibition opens on 2nd June.

031 – Stan The Man
Here’s Henki with Stanley, the character he designed for Nippon Television’s Friday Night Roadshow animated idents. It turns out Stanley has become so popular that he is being made into toys that you can cuddle/sit on your computer/give as a gift etc. Henki met Stanley on his recent trip to Tokyo. And in case you’re wondering why the cheesy colour/B&W effect… Henki...

Henki just came back from a trip to Tokyo. But there was also some work done and that photo shall follow shortly. Meantime, just feast on this.

026 – Desktops
We were asked today, for someone’s student project, to send bird’s eye view photos of the designers’ desks. So we thought we’d share them with you here too. Some we couldn’t share however, as the projects they’re working on are sssssshhhhhh top secret and showing them would result in elimination.

Pictured above, train tickets from Copenhagen to Arhus for a series of talks we are doing in Denmark next month. We have been invited by the folks at Lynfabrikken to talk about Airside and how we work, what inspires us. Alex and Anne are very excited, not having been to Denmark before so if you’re in Denmark for that, come say hello.
